Satterleigh - Barn conversion at listed farmhouse
The conversion of a barn into annex accommodation for an ajoining Grade 2 listed farmhouse located near Satterleigh in North Devon
I was appointed as an architect to seek listed building consent for the conversion of the barn into additional accommodation for the cottage. The client had previously failed to gain consent on the site.
Together with the client and structural consultant, we developed a strategy for development of the site which would minimise impact upon the listed building. This involved retaining key historical elements, minimising removal of the building fabric and using traditional materials and techniques.
We gained listed building consent in 2017 and the project started construction on site in spring 2018.
